World Bank: Doing Business At A Glance

Doing Business at a Glance draws on Doing Business 2010 and Doing Business 2011, presenting rankings and quantitative indicators on business regulations and the protection of property rights across 183 economies. It gives you portable access to the most recent rankings and data from 2010 and 2011, without the need for an internet connection. View 2010 and 2011 rankings and indicators, with business reform summaries, for each economy; Compare 2010 and 2011 rankings and indicators from economy to economy or economy to region; Sort economies by region, income level, ease of doing business ranking, and any other rankings and indicators; and Read the complete Doing Business 2010 and Doing Business 2011 reports, with the option to export to iBooks.

The Doing Business project, part of the IFC and the World Bank Group, investigates the regulations that enhance and constrain business activity. Regulations affecting 9 stages of a business’s life are included in the overall ease of doing business rankings: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts, and closing a business. Getting electricity, a pilot indicator, is not included in the rankings. The indicators are used to analyze economic outcomes and identify what business reforms have worked, where and why.
